January 30 - Tusc County Rocks!

Nickles Bakery in Navarre
Today was a big surprise. We had planned on heading south from Navarre to Zoar, with four or five quick stops along the way. We were out almost 4 1/2 hours and walked about 5 miles. The weather was a mixed blessing, very cold, teens to low 20's, but it was sunny and gorgeous. The sun really helped to warm our bodies and our spirits. It's been so seldom that we have seen it this month. We actually walked from our first stop to beyond our second stop. Our first stop was an area off Wooster in Navarre and we walked almost a mile out and back. Then we headed to Craig Pittman Park, farther south in Navarre. We passed a Nichols Bakery along the way - few aromas are more wonderful than bread baking. Our next stop was at Fort Laurens State Memorial. The trail here includes a trail over I-77. We walked about 3/4 mile, mainly just to the bridge, across it and back. Our final stop today was Canal Lands Park in Zoar. We had driven by this park on Jan 1st, but we didn't stop then because by the time we found it - it was getting dark. We walked to the Old Zoar Bridge, up the steps and across the bridge. (the trail runs under the bridge). It was still sunny and beautiful. We walked a little under a mile here and then called it a day.

Cold and crisp today
Walked farther than we'd planned
Invigorating!
