After spending some time at Big Bend, we drove to the Beaver Marsh. As we neared the board- walk, passersby were calling to us to hurry because there was a big heron or crane on the boardwalk. The heron was no longer on the boardwalk when we arrived at the marsh, but one did fly into a tree soon thereafter. We also saw some flickers tending to their nest in a crevice in a sycamore tree. It's exciting to watch this area throughout the seasons and to see how the plant and animal life change.
