I remember that in January I described Clinton as a "winter wonderland." Before I remembered that however, I found myself today describing the same area as a "summer wonderland." The wildflowers, I believe most were Jerusalem Artichokes, were EVERYWHERE! And where there are wildflowers, there are butterflies. Everywhere I looked, there were tiger swallowtails and monarchs, along with a host of other butterfly species. I ran into the Clinton birdwatching couple we had met awhile back, and they told me that there were sandpipers near the river. I didn't see the sandpipers, but took lots of butterfly photos. I decided to go home, as I had forgotten the battery for one of my cameras. I waited for Kay to get home and we both went to Clinton. Lo and behold, old eagle-eye Kay saw a sandpiper right off the bat. We took lots of photos, but didn't walk too far because of the heat.
